Methodology of HCI Consult Services

The aim of our programs is to unlock hidden capabilities by increasing the knowledge, the desire and the actions that determine immediate results.

 

Increasing Desire:

We are expert at stimulating in people the desire to change and use their learning.  There is no silver bullet – many techniques are well known and have been for years.  We look at them from a different angle that is exciting and fresh and is more readily accepted and implemented.

From the start of Day 1 we create “light bulb” moments where people become conscious of what they have unconsciously been doing, showing them the value of applying the learning.

Our training is a positive environment – our participants work very hard but have fun as well.  They give and receive lots of constructive feedback from the trainer and each other and frequently are the “heroes” who discover the learning for themselves.

While development is a long, ongoing process, it is critical to generate momentum from the start.  Participants see positive results from Day 1.  The training is practical and is related back to their life and work, so they see the clear link between theory and application.

Working as part of a group allows people to share successes and see peers develop.  This creates an environment focussed on change and a common language.

Our training focuses on communication and influence so techniques can be used in both personal and professional lives – we train the whole person, not just the employee.  Participants often speak of improvements in personal relationships and effectiveness – this has a direct impact on professional performance.  Using techniques in all areas of life makes it more likely that genuine habits are created and embedded.

Increasing Knowledge:

We give people the techniques and means to develop a toolkit to use in any situation and through practice the knowledge of how to apply it effectively. We make them conscious of the competencies they possess and give them confidence to use them more consistently.

Tools and techniques are not enough. Research shows the mood and attitude we approach a situation with, determines whether we have a 70-80% chance of success or failure, regardless of the techniques we employ.  This is because of how we influence others and the subconscious and emotional drivers of our communication partner.

We explore the attitudes that people have to themselves, their role, their products or teams and their communication partners.  We look at the psychology of their interactions and how they can develop the attitudes and behaviours that will give them the best chance of success.

Increasing Action:

Your results are our reputation.  Knowledge in itself is of no value, only actions generate results.  Our training focuses on supporting the consistent transfer of knowledge into action and in particular in the creation of new habits which deliver lasting return on investment.

No one becomes a top performer by reading a book or watching a video – they need to work with the best coaches.  Our training is interactive – all learning points are observed, role-played, analysed, summarised, and practised.  At the end of each day participants select 5 key areas to focus on and commit to using them.

Training days are separated by 4-6 weeks to allow transfer of learning into action. This gives them the opportunity to generate tangible results and create lasting new habits so the next day’s learning builds on solid foundations.

Each subsequent training day starts with a “Report back” – a formal presentation on what learning they have used, how they used it, what results they generated and what they have learnt.  Before and after training days, between training days and ongoing, participants can contact their trainer to discuss real life scenarios and receive coaching on approaches and solutions.
